Christmas and New Years Travels

It was about a week and a half before Christmas we left for Colorado from Arizona.

We got to the farm and nothing that was needed to load out wheat seemed to work, the cold had depleted the power in the batteries and every thing seems to become cold blooded. My husband Mike finally get things running, he hauled loads of wheat in his bobtail truck for three full days. I finished up the online Christmas shopping. Did I say how much I can’t stand going shopping in the store this time a year? I just can’t do it, the crowds and some people are so rude. I guess I have some anxiety at Christmas time when it comes to the stores. Well enough about that. We got done with the farm work for the year.

We headed to Missouri for Christmas with our family. We set up the Christmas tree the day after arriving. Asher stayed out of the tree the first night, but there after we couldn’t keep all the ornaments on the tree, we would find them all over the house. Asher loves running though the house from one end to the other with what ever toy he can carry in his mouth, some time its my ponytail holder. He is comedy central at our house or hotel room were ever we stay. When the grand-kids started showing up Asher be come a scaredy-cat, needless to say we had to put him in a back room were he felt safer.

We had three Christmas dinners, one Italian Christmas dinner, and two traditional Christmas dinners. The Italian dinner was at my brother-in-laws, boy can my sister-in-law cook!

My daughters and I cooked the other two dinners. Turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, smashed potatoes, smashed sweet potatoes the first dinner, and candied yams the second one, home made cranberries, kings hawaiian buns, an assortment of relish items, apple pie, pumpkin pie w/ home made whipped cream. Spending time with my daughters in the kitchen was so much fun, like old times.

I bought Nerf dart guns to keep our grand-kids entertained. Mike and I had as much fun with the guns as the kids did, playing in side and out, only one dart was lost out of thirty six over a three day period. I thought it was a great way to make some good memories with the grand-kids. Can’t wait for the next time we all get together.

It has been a long time since we got out for New Years Eve. This time we went to a casino with friends, we gambled, drank and rang in the new year and went to bed. The next day we gambled some more. I am pretty sure a fun time was had by all.

I hope the new year finds you in good health and happiness. I wish you all a blessed and Happy New Year.
