Asher’s Adventures

The arrival and introduction of Asher.
Asher was born  August 17, 2019 at Cascade Kaperkats cattery. His Dad is Dakota moon, his Mom is Misty May. He was born with a one inch tail, and poly dactyl front feet, and long fluffy hair.
Precious little kitty, and growing fast, he is now almost three months old.
I am going to the airport November 12, to pick him up, and meet him for the fist time.
I am beyond excited. This little Pixie bob is going to still hearts, he has mine already. Its almost like getting ready for a baby, making sure you have his food on hand, his toys, his kitty litter, bed, his toilet trainer, ( yes I am going to train him to use the toilet so that there is no cat box to deal with, but I don’t think I am going to teach to flush it. I can just see him flushing it over and over just to see it swirl.) I will let you know how it goes.
This is going to be just as big an adventure for me as for him.
I found out about the Pixie bob bread a few years back when my husband an I went to Washington state to see my family and introduce my husband to them. My aunt Kay had her cattery at her home and raised Pixie bobs.
I fell in love with the bread right then and there. These cats where absolutely stunning, and beautiful, markings of a bobcat, with the lynx ears, short tail. They looked to me just like a bobcat, but the sweetest personality, not like any cat I had ever seen before. I knew that if I ever got another cat it was going to be one of these beauties.
At that time I had a cat, and not just any old cat.
This guy was a one of a kind.
I dropped in to visit a friend of mine to say hi and see how she was doing. This little black kitten come flying out from under her couch and attacked my ankles.
She told me that a stray cat had had her kittens in the flower bed in front of her house under an overhang. she noticed that the mother wasn’t coming back to them when they were only a few days old, she thought maybe she got run over on the highway there. So she got milk replacement for them but only one of them survived.
This little guy was it. She was trying to find some one to take him but I had two out door cats at home already. Inky and Squishy.
Every time I went over there he did the same thing, then it happened. He brought me his toy. she said he hadn’t done that before, so I took it as a sign that he picked me.
So guess what, I found myself with this every special cat. I named him Shadow, but my loving husband named him Shortstack it stuck, it fit him perfectly.
Shortstack had a great life here, he become an indoor, outdoor cat, he and the other cat ( Squishy) always went to the door like a dog would when they needed to go potty. I never had a cat box in the house. These two cats were great hunters, you could watch them hurt in the garden, they would tag team the mice and they would both come out of there with a mice or two a day besides all the night hunting they would do. We lost Sortstack two years ago in the spring. I didn’t know he was that sick, I thought he had hairballs or something like that, so it was a shock. I was heart broke. I buried him in his favorite hunting grounds, my garden. We had 11 great years together.
Squishy was my daughters cat and we lost him later that some year, he was not the same after Shortstack died. He was acting a little strange for about two days before he went out hunting one night and we never seen him again, he was 12 years old. I think he was heartbroken over Shortstack.
I know they would love to play with Asher if they were still here.

I am ready to have another furry companion to love and share our lives with, and Asher is the one. He will be by my side out in the garden, hanging out in the house, quick trips to town for parts, and on our travels.

I hope to be writing about our adventures together for a long time to come.  A day in the garden, a trip to town, him watching the koi in the koi pond, (I hope he just watches them and doesn’t go fishing) our travels to see our kids and grand kids, and family. He will probably be a little spoiled, as in having an only child kind of way, we will seeim
